The Iowa Well Survey is a sustained, statewide effort to reach private well owners and present them with an opportunity to have their well(s) tested, free of charge, for common contaminants such as bacteria (total coliform bacteria and E. coli), nitrate and arsenic as well as contaminants of emerging concern that may affect the health of Iowans.
Ensuring clean drinking water from private wells is a public health challenge that can only be accomplished through collaborative efforts among state, local and private entities. All Iowa county environmental and public health departments participating in the Grants-to-Counties Program are eligible to participate in the Iowa Well Survey. |
